Abstract
Many congregations today are oriented toward denominational and institutional concerns, and scarcely aware of their responsibility to join with other congregations as representatives of God’s reign in their communities. A new paradigm in congregational formation is needed. This project, therefore, will be attempt· to form an ecumenical group of Christians which consciously seeks to be aware of and to analyze events in and beyond its community and to respond to them in the name of God. Three goals were established for the Demonstration Project. They were: (1) formation of an .ecumenical group for community ministry; (2,) development of a clear statement of the group’s self understanding of its nature and purpose and of its call to mission in the community; (3) offering the project to the Church as a model of a new possibility for congregational 1ife.
